LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against Matthew R. Jennings, 42, Sharpsville, Pa. was bound over to the county grand jury on charges of third-degree felony compelling prostitution, fourth-degree felony attempted, and misdemeanors of possessing criminal tools and engaging in prostitution. Jennings allegedly solicited sexual conduct with a Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent posing as an adult female and 15-year-old girl in exchange for $240, in addition to $35 extra for drinking with him first, arriving for the meeting Oct. 2 in East Palestine. Jennings allegedly told the agent he needed to be cautious in order to protect his nursing license, according to the affidavit.

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Oct. 17 for Jacob Martin, 30, Staunton Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with fourth-degree felony assault and misdemeanors of aggravated menacing and resisting arrest for an alleged incident Oct. 8 at a property on state Route 267 in St. Clair Township when he screamed at officers, became combative and had to be tased by officers, continuing to curse at them and resist.

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Oct. 17 for Mark E. Durbin, 54, Warren, charged with third-degree felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanors of possession of drug abuse instruments, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, expired license and no functioning brake light allegedly related to an Oct. 10 traffic stop in Columbiana when he allegedly possessed multiple empty syringes and some full syringes and threw multiple folds containing an unknown substance on the ground from his pocket which he admitted contained fentanyl.

A pretrial was set Oct. 20 for Timothy Smith, 33, Woodsdale Road, Salem, charged with possessing criminal tools, soliciting, driving under suspension, drug paraphernalia and possessing marijuana. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety. Smith allegedly solicited sex for hire through an undercover ad posted by a Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent and arrived for the meeting in East Palestine on Oct. 9. He also allegedly possessed a meth pipe along with marijuana. A probation violation hearing was also set Oct. 20 for charges of OVI third offense, OVI breath third offense and a turn signal violation.

A pretrial was set Dec. 19 for Divya Patel, 29, Lebanon, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly arranging for sexual conduct in exchange for $180 with a Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent posing online as a female and traveling to East Palestine on Oct. 7 for the meeting.

A pretrial was set Jan. 5 for Michal Wicobroda, 41, Pittsburgh, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution, possessing criminal tools and drug paraphernalia for allegedly arranging for sexual conduct in exchange for $80 with a Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent posing online as a female and traveling to East Palestine on Oct. 7 for the meeting. He also allegedly possessed marijuana and a marijuana pipe.

A pretrial was set Dec. 13 for George Kredel, 80, Beaver Falls, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly making arrangements for sexual conduct in exchange for money with an undercover Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent posing as a female and arriving in East Palestine on Sept. 12 for the meeting with his cell phone.

Jeffrey Birckbichler, 40, Butler, Pa., was fined $750 and ordered to complete 20 hours community service for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for making arrangements for sexual conduct in exchange for $140 with an undercover Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent posing as a female and arriving on July 13 in East Palestine for the meeting.

A pretrial was set Dec. 19 for Kelly M. Reed, 33, Sunset Drive, Wellsville, charged with theft for allegedly admitting to stealing some items found in a garbage bag in her vehicle during a traffic stop Oct. 5 in St. Clair Township.

A pretrial was set Nov. 22 for Spencer Hulett, 35, state Route 344, Salem, charged with obstructing official business for allegedly not following police commands after being pointed out for allegedly being involved in an altercation in Salem on Oct. 9 and lying to officers.

A pretrial was set Dec. 5 for James Metzger, 49, Youngstown, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly soliciting sexual conduct from an undercover Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent in exchange for $140, and traveling to Salem on Oct. 7 for the meeting.

A pretrial was set Oct. 20 for Robert P. White, 33, West Main Street, Washingtonville, charged with possessing criminal tools, criminal mischief and criminal trespass for allegedly being caught on the property of STG Communications, Wardingly Avenue, Columbiana, hiding in a dumpster after police were called for a suspicious vehicle. He was found in possession of a flashlight, pliers, bolt cutters and wire cutters and wire was cut with the intention of scrapping it for profit

A pretrial was set Nov. 22 for Charles McQuillan, West Woodland Avenue, Columbiana, charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct for an incident Oct. 10 in Columbiana when he allegedly started yelling at officers, was screaming in his residence after they left and gave him a warning, and officers had to respond a third time for him yelling again, placing him under arrest. He allegedly resisted while being handcuffed.

A pretrial was set Oct. 17 for Dominick Lisk, 18, Old Fredricktown Road, East Liverpool, charged with assault for allegedly attempting to harm a man by punching and kicking him repeatedly while he was on the ground on Sept. 29 in St. Clair Township.

A pretrial was set Nov. 22 for Nicolas Accorti, 41, Lorain, charged with criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing onto the grounds of the Elkton Federal Correctional Institution on Scroggs Road on Oct. 8 and throwing bricks over the outside fence. He was ordered to stay away from the prison.

Sentencing was set Oct. 24 for Alicia Foreman, 53, Oak Grove Road, Salineville, who pleaded no contest to theft. Foreman was accused Sept. 29 of removing mail from a property on West Washington Street in Lisbon, with the mail containing NFL football cards.

A pretrial was set Nov. 22 for Jerry Malone II, 42, West Fifth Street, Salem, charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest for allegedly lying to officers who were called on Sept. 29 to remove a person from the Family Dollar in Salem, claiming he wasn’t there and wasn’t driving the vehicle identified when camera footage at Speedway gas station showed him exiting the vehicle. Police had made contact with him for the investigation on Oct. 3. He also resisted arrest when Salem police officers were attempting to take him into custody on a warrant on Oct. 8 on West Fifth Street.

A pretrial was set Dec. 13 for Daniel Baxter, 22, East Fifth Street, Salem, charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs second offense, OVI breath second offense, failure to control and no seat belt.

Edward Pittman, 39, Granite Street, Salem, was fined $1,970, sentenced to 26 days in jail and had his driver’s license suspended for three years for OVI, driving under suspension, distracted driving, left of center, no seat belt, child endangering, possessing marijuana and possessing marijuana paraphernalia for a traffic stop May 13 in Perry Township when he was driving impaired and had two children in the vehicle with him.

Nicholas Baylor, 27, North Vine Street, Columbiana, was fined $915 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days spent in a driver intervention program for OVI and lighted lights. His driver’s license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted. He was also ordered to perform 40 hours community service.

Wilson Lopez, 22, West Martin Street, East Palestine, was fined $925 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days for a driver intervention program for OVI and marked lanes. A temporary permit charge and open container charge were dismissed and his driver’s license was suspended for one year. He was also ordered to complete 20 hours community service.

Westin Collins, 36, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, was fined 300 for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

A charge of violating a temporary protection order was dismissed fro Brian Lewis, 42, Youngstown.

A pretrial was set Dec. 12 for Wesley Daley, 18, Lexington, charged with use of unauthorized plate.

A pretrial was set Dec. 1 for Adrienna Jackson, 31, Independence Square, Wellsville, charged with driving under suspension and speeding.

A pretrial was set Dec. 19 for Matthew Powell, 28, Avondale Street, East Liverpool, charged with failure to control.

A pretrial was set Dec. 5 for Jared Gore, 24, Hartford City, Ind., charged with traffic control devices.

Carol Jackson, 57, West Park Avenue, Columbiana, was fined $150 for possessing drug paraphernalia.

William Faulk Jr., 37, Church Street, Salineville, was fined $300 for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Elizabeth Achondo, 23, Oyster Road, Alliance, was fined $200 for following too closely and possessing marijuana.

Wilmarie Boshetti Flores, 24, Youngstown, was fined $100 for speeding, with fictitious registration dismissed.

Brooke Potts, 21, Rose Drive, Lisbon, was fined $150 for no license.

Sara Rothbrust, Misty Morning Lane, Beloit, and Devyn Rothbrust, Duck Creek Road, Salem; dissolution sought.

LISBON — A Salem man accused of entering a property to commit a theft offense pleaded guilty recently to a second-degree felony burglary count.

Eric Uphold, 52, West Seventh Street, will face sentencing Jan. 5 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. According to the felony plea agreement, a two-year prison term will be recommended for the incident that occurred on Oct. 13, 2021.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Stacey Butcher, 48, Lexington Avenue, Salem, will face sentencing Jan. 12 after pleading guilty to charges in two separate cases. In the more recent case, she entered the guilty plea to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, for flushing a baggie containing a ball of an unknown substance as a search warrant was being served on her residence on Nov. 16, 2021. In the other case, she pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, for possessing cocaine and drug paraphernalia on April 30, 2021.

— Timothy Moore, 41, Wayne Bridge Road, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to failure to notify sheriff of change of address, a third-degree felony, and falsification, a misdemeanor, for making a false statement on Dec. 18, 2021 and failing to report his change of address on Jan. 25, 2022 as required for all registered sex offenders. Sentencing was scheduled for Jan. 6, 2023.

— Brandi Shupp, 46, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, with sentencing set for Jan. 6. Shupp possessed methamphetamine on June 2, 2021.

— William David Doran, 49, Girard, was sentenced to nine months in prison, with credit for three days served in jail, for importuning, a fifth-degree felony, and attempted compelling prostitution and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, both fourth-degree felonies. He was also deemed a sexual offender with a residence verification requirement every 90 days for the rest of his life. Doran was accused of arranging to have sex with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl during an undercover sex for hire sting on Sept. 30, 2021.

— Stephen Thomas Vishak, 28, state Route 518, Lisbon, was placed under community control for three years, but with a requirement to serve three days in jail, followed by electronically monitored house arrest, for obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. On June 3, 2021 Vishak harmed or attempted to harm a Salem police officer and another man and impeded police in their performance of their duties.

— Jason B. Beckwith, 38, Center Street, Wellsville, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with credit for one day served, leaving 89 to serve in jail, for violating his probation on charges of attempted harassment with a bodily substance, menacing, obstruction official business and resisting arrest, all misdemeanor counts, for his actions toward a patrolman with the Wellsville police department on Dec. 27, 2020.

— Anthony J. Antonas, 42, Latta Road, East Palestine, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for charges from two separate cases, with credit for 251 days already served in jail. The sentence included 12 months each for domestic violence and trespass in a habitation, both fourth-degree felonies, to be served at the same time. He received an additional six months for obstructing official business, an amended offense, to be served consecutive to the other case, for a total of 18 months. On May 18, 2020, Antonas harmed a woman and trespassed into a home. The other charge stemmed from an incident Jan. 1, 2022.

— Daoud Abbadi, 25, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to possessing criminal tools and was placed on community control for one year for possessing a firearm on Nov. 28, 2020.

— Theodore Cassinger Jr., 45, state Route 45, Salem, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and was placed on an intervention plan for three years for possessing methamphetamine on Aug. 20, 2021.

— Alyssa Coleman, 22, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and was placed on an intervention plan for three years for possessing cocaine on Dec. 10, 2020.
